Welcome to our page about the Phillip Harvey Playing Field in Low Bentham.

Following the removal of the original play equipment in 2007, the Council and the Low Bentham community worked together to replace it with something more suitable for local children.
Fundraising efforts began with the production of the first Bentham Calendar, alongside car boot sales and a sponsored bike ride, all raising vital funds towards the refurbishment of the playing field. In 2008, Low Bentham Primary School closed, and the Council began exploring the purchase of the Playing Field as a more appropriate site for a new children’s play area.
With the support of North Yorkshire County Council, who set a reasonable purchase price and worked hard to secure suitable access, and Clifford Hall Developments, who kindly allowed access to the field over their land off Hillside Road, the playing field was successfully purchased in 2016. The funds raised earlier were then used to fence the area and support other essential works linked to the purchase.
Today, the play area offers large open spaces where children can run freely and enjoy the outdoors. Picnic benches are available for families to relax and enjoy meals together. For older children and adventurous visitors, the site includes a zip wire, climbing frame, spinning seats, an inclusive swing seat, standing ropes, hanging bars and a basket swing accessible to all.
There is also a dedicated area for children under 8, featuring swings, a tunnel, bouncy tractors, a slide, a hideout and a miniature trail designed to encourage balance and adventurous play.
The Phillip Harvey Playing Field is also home to a large Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) with basketball hoops and goals — the perfect place to enjoy a friendly game.
