VE Day 80 Beacon Lighting – Bentham Golf Club
As part of the VE Day 80 commemorations, a beacon lighting ceremony took place on the second fairway at Bentham Golf Club. As dusk fell and the skies gradually darkened, the setting sun provided a beautiful backdrop for the event. From our vantage point, six other beacons could be seen shining in solidarity across the landscape.
The Bentham beacon was ceremonially lit by Margaret Taylor, with assistance from her daughter, Sue Dixon, under the guidance of Thomas Marshall. Around 75 members of the community gathered to mark this solemn and significant occasion, coming together to honour the past.
