BENTHAM TOWN COUNCIL CEMETERY PRICING

SINGLE GRAVE (5FT) £800.00
The cost of a single grave is £800.00. This price includes all administrative fees, the Exclusive Right of Burial for 100 years and access for grave diggers.
DOUBLE GRAVE (7FT) £1000.00
The cost of a double grave plot is £1,000.00. This price includes all administrative fees, the Exclusive Right of Burial for 100 years, access for grave diggers and allows for two burials. Please note that a re-opening fee is charged for the second burial.
REOPENING (7FT) £350.00 – A re-opening refers to the excavation of an existing grave to allow for an additional burial. This is usually required for the second burial.
HEADSTONE FEE £195.00 – This fee includes all administrative costs, allowing a registered stonemason to access the cemetery and erect a memorial or headstone on a burial plot, in accordance with cemetery regulations.
ADDITIONAL INSCRIPTION £50.00 – This charge allows a registered stonemason to access the cemetery to remove an existing memorial, carry out an additional inscription and re-instate the memorial. The fee includes all associated administrative costs.
ASHES £200.00 – Cremated remains (ashes) may be placed either in a suitable casket or poured into the ground next to the memorial wall, near a plaque or within a burial plot where the Exclusive Right of Burial holder has given permission. The Exclusive Right of Burial holder must consent in writing to any burial or interment in a plot they own. Under longstanding UK cemetery law, a grave may not be opened for burial or interment of remains without the permission of the registered owner of the Exclusive Right of Burial. If a casket containing cremated remains is placed in a burial plot, this may limit the ability to carry out further burials or interments in that plot.
WALL PLAQUE AND SPACE ON MEMORIAL WALL £400.00 – This includes all administrative costs, organising the plaque design, proof approval and delivery, the provision of space on the memorial wall and the fixing of the plaque in place. Please note that an additional charge will apply for the memorial plaque itself if made from cast bronze, at an approximate cost of £180.00, payable by the customer.
SPACE ON MEMORIAL WALL £225.00 – This fee includes all administrative costs and the reservation of a space on the memorial wall, with a temporary brass sign placed on the allocated space. Memorial wall plaque spaces will be reserved for a period of up to 100 years
Internment of a child under 16 £350.00 (claim back from the Children’s Funeral Fund by Council, where the reclaim is not possible the charge will not be passed onto the family)
If a non-resident of the Bentham Parish prices are to be charged at 1 1/2 times the amounts above.
