Earlier this year, Bentham Town Council assumed responsibility for the lease of the Goodenber Road Play Area.

Following an annual inspection carried out by a professional playground inspection company, the swings, seesaw and zip wire have been deemed unsafe for use. These items have therefore been taken out of service until they can be repaired or replaced.

The roundabout has been assessed as presenting a moderate level of risk and requires remedial work. In the meantime, users are asked to exercise caution when using this equipment. The inspection identified gaps around the roundabout that are larger than recommended and the picnic bench is currently located within the roundabout’s fall zone. The Council is taking steps to rectify these issues as quickly as possible.

Funding is currently being allocated and quotations are being sought for the replacement of the swings and seesaw. A specification has also been prepared for the zip wire safety surfacing and quotations are being gathered for this work.

We would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding while these improvements are undertaken. Our aim is to restore the playground to a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for children and families.

New signage will also be installed in our play areas in the near future.
